About Dean Maragos

A lifelong Democrat, Dean Maragos currently serves as Committeeman of the New Trier Democratic Organization.  He lives in Winnetka with his wife, Antonia, and his daughter, Anastasia.  

Dean is an attorney and accountant who was born and raised on the Southeast side of Chicago.  He attended DePauw University, earning his B.A. in History, Philosophy and Political Science, and later DePaul University where he studied Accounting.  He received his law degree graduating Summa Cum Laude from Northern Illinois University College of Law.

Dean is a member of the Sierra Club, Lifetime member of Independent Voters of Illinois, and served on the steering committee of Cease Fire and The Jason Foundation.

Dean has dedicated his life to public service and improving our communities, including serving as the Assistant Director of Revenue for the City of Chicago, General Counsel to the Greektown Special Service Area Tax Commission #16, and Co-Chairman of the Economic Development Subcommittee of the Chicago Development Advisory Commission.  Dean also worked in the Legal Departments of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District and Illinois Superintendent of Public Instruction.
